Admission Requirements
Online Master of Science in Marketing Heading link
- A baccalaureate or equivalent degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Undergraduate GPA of 3.0/4.0 or better (or equivalent) for the final 60 semester (90 quarter) hours of undergraduate study. Applicants with a master’s degree must have maintained a grade point average of at least 3.00/4.00 in that program. A business-related undergraduate degree is not required to be admitted to our master’s programs.
- One (1) Recommender Survey
- Fill out the form within the application portal to have the Graduate College send out an email request for one recommender survey (a short survey about you). You will need to input the recommender email addresses.
- Personal Statement
- CV / Resume (no work experience is required)
- GRE / GMAT:
- For Spring 2025 applicants, the MS in Marketing program offers GMAT/GRE waivers for the following:
- Current students and graduates of U.S. colleges and universities with a cumulative 3.0+ GPA (all majors).
- Graduates of U.S. colleges and universities with 3+ years of post-bachelor’s professional work experience by the start of the program.
- Current students and recent alums of the U of I system who qualify through Guaranteed Admissions.
- Graduates of international colleges and universities with 3+ years of post-bachelor’s professional work experience by the start of the program.
- Please complete the GMAT/GRE waiver request form listed below to find out if you qualify. Please note that competitive GMAT/GRE scores may help your chances of admission and being awarded merit aid.

GMAT/GRE Waiver Request Form Heading link
The waiver request must be submitted one month before the application deadline for the term for which you are seeking admission. Students typically can expect to receive a response within 1-2 weeks.
• Online MS Marketing waiver request deadline: November 1, 2024. GRE waiver requests received after the deadline will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
